Lobos News · Coach of the Week 10/27 – 11/3

Coach davis.jpg_largeThis week’s coach of the week is Coach Kenny Davis.  Coach Davis is our Freshman Coach and went to Pflugerville High School.  He went on to play football at the collegiate level with West Texas State University.  He loves ANY kind of steak and his favorite color is LOBO BLUE!  He was born November 15th and always dreamed of becoming a football player.  His favorite movies are; The Ten Commandments (staring Charlton Heston), Friday, Avatar, Anything Fast and Furious, Iron Man, We were soldiers once and young.  The most courageous thing Coach Davis has ever done, commanding 94 soldiers to war in 2003 and brought ALL 94 soldiers home.  Thank you for your service Coach.   Coach Davis is inspired by his family, his church, his players, great coaches and leaders.  If he could go back and tell himself something (if you go back, tell me, too okay) TAKE SCHOOL SERIOUSLY!  The funniest thing that has ever happened occurred while Coach was on TV.  He was hit in the head with a football during an option drill on channel 3 KVUE, ABC.  BUT he tackled the coach who was playing QB- he did his job!  If he had 30 minutes to speak with someone, he would love to have a conversation with Jesus and ask all the questions we have about life.  His faith and his wife have helped him throughout his times of struggles and his own personal goals consist of being a great dad, an outstanding mentor and coach and to do whatever his wife tells him to do :).  His hidden talent is staying young and is thankful to be with a great school with Professional Coaches, Visionary Administrators, Passionate Students, and Talented Athletes!   His words to everyone reading this:

Lobos, stay passionare, trust your leaders, believe in yourself and transform our nation!  #BAT

Tonight, as our Lobos take on the Cavaliers at Lake Travis at 7:30 pm, watch out for this weeks coach of the week, Coach Jonathan Proud and give him a WAVE!!  Coach Proud has been with Lehman since 2016 and is our Linebackers coach.  He was a Longhorn at Early High School in Early Texas where he played Football (he was an “All-State Player”), was a Powerlifter as well as being a member of the track team.  He went on to play football for the Hardin Simmons University Cowboys in Abilene from 2007-2010 as a Defensive Tackle and was a double Major.  He earned his Bachelors in History and Education and Minored in Coaching.  His favorite foods are steak and burgers and his favorite color is, Royal Blue!  He was born January 22 and as a child, he wanted to be a firefighter.  When he was young, he hated taking pictures.  When he was 3 or 4 years old his mother wanted to get professional photos taken.  It took 3 hours to get him in front of the camera and when the photo snapped, he made the meanest look he could give.  To this day, this photo is his mothers favorite picture of Coach Proud :).  His favorite class was Western Civilization and Professor Taylor turned history into stories which made things easier to remember.  One of his hidden talents include him being pretty skilled with a Yo-Yo in hand! His top 3 favorite movies of all time are: Step Brothers (Catalina Wine Mixer!), Enemy at the Gates and Terminator.  If he could have a 30 minute conversation with someone, it would be Coach Rusty Russell.  Coach Russell was an incredible man who coached a team of 12 orphans at Masonic Home outside Ft. Worth during the depression era and took on teams like Amarillo when they were in their prime. Coach Proud is inspired by people who have accomplished incredible feats while facing tremendous hardship and the chips stacked against them.  He often says to himself, “If they did, why can’t I”? His friends would describe him as stoic and if there were one thing he could go back and tell himself when he were younger, it would be to NEVER take the easy way out.  He tributes his mother, Cindy, a single mother who raised him with help from her parents and brother and his High School Football Coach for bringing him through his most difficult times and struggles and is extremely thankful for his beautiful wife, Maddy for her continued support and love.    Coach Proud’s goals include being the best coach he can be and motivating young athletes to be the best they can be as well.  The best thing about Lehman?  The kids and their awesome work ethic and to keep pushing and never give up!  Thank you Coach Proud for your hard work and dedication to our school, our kids and our community!

Lobos News · Coach of the Week 10/13-10/20

This weeks coach of the Week is Mack Leftwhich.  Coach Leftwich is our quarterback coach / offensive coordinator for the Lobo Football Teams and graduated with the Tigers of Allegheny High School in Wexford, Pennsylvania where he was player of the year for football.  He also played baseball.  He went on to be the quarterback for the University of El-Paso  and majored in Multidisciplinary Studies with a focus on Math and Education.  His favorite foods are steak and pizza and his favorite color is green.  He was born November 18th and has wanted to be a coach since he was a child.  He would like to have a 30 minute conversation with John Wooden who Coach Leftwich believes is one of the greatest coaches of all time (I agree- GO BRUINS!).  Coach Leftwhich’s favorite movies are Good Will Hunting, The Sandlot, and any of the Star Wars Movies. His favorite class in High School was Foreign Policy with Mr. Lyons.  He was the funniest teacher Coach ever had and has been interested in events involving the US and foreign nations ever since.  He is thankful for his parents who have helped him through his struggles and a great family and the opportunity to be a part of the change going on at Lehman.  His goal is to become the best coach and role model that he could possibly be.  The best things about Lehman?  “Everything!  The kids have been awesome to work with, I get to coach along side a great staff every day, amazing support and one of the best areas in the state of Texas to live in.”  Thank you for the sacrifices you have made Coach.  Next time you see him (you may mistake him for one of our players :), I have at times) give him a wave and say Hello!leftwich2
